Smart Lists Groceries app for iPhone and iPad

Smart Lists Groceries is a very simple and elegant approach to making the task of creating, maintaining and using the familys weekly grocery list as efficient as possible.

Our primary goal, from the first day of planning the app at Genoa Data Systems, has been to help our users find more time in their lives for the more important things, like family and friends, through the efficient use of smart technology. To that end we pre-populate our main grocery items database with over 1500 names of common grocery items. Those names are organized in categories with names that represent grocery store aisle / section names. Weve kept the font large to help our users spend more time looking at the products on the grocery store shelves and less time looking for the items on their lists.

All default data that ships with Smart Lists Groceries is, or soon will be, editable. Currently, you can add new, remove or change any grocery item name.

The Options menu in the upper right corner of every page of the app has a link to help using the app.

Creating a grocery list using Smart Lists Groceries is as simple as tapping on a grocery item name. The item is automatically added to the grocery list in the appropriate grocery category.

Using the grocery list in Smart Lists Groceries is as simple as tapping the item name after placing the item in the cart.

As items in the grocery list are tapped, a checkmark is placed before the item name indicating that the item has been carted or the checkmark is removed indicating that the item has been un-carted (returned to the grocery store shelf).

Other apps have their users connect to their data on the app author’s server using the user’s data plan and the user’s minutes. Not us. All data used in and created in Smart Lists Groceries is contained within your device and uses less than two megabytes of disk space saving you both money and data fees.

In addition to helping you save money on your data plan, Smart Lists Groceries can help you save money by tracking the cost of each item on your list within the details of that item.

In the item details you can maintain: quantity, unit of measure, price, coupon, product codes, date of purchase, date of expiration, store names, shape, color and general notes for each of the more than 1500 items in the default database and for those items the you add to the items database in the future. If using the coupon and notes features you will see coupon and notes indicators in your grocery list.  The grocery list will be organized in sections with names similar to the names of aisles in the grocery store. Those sections can be expanded and contracted giving the you better views of your grocery list.
